Mixto Co2

CO2 laser resurfacing is one of the most powerful and clinically proven skin renewal treatments available today, using fractional carbon dioxide laser energy to precisely remove damaged outer layers of skin while stimulating deep collagen remodeling from within.

    The MiXto SX® combines the gold standard 10,600 nm wavelength for skin renewal and resurfacing procedures with a unique patented scanner to deliver a precise matrix of Microspots that penetrate to the dermis and stimulate the formation of new collagen.

  • The MiXto SX® gives the provider the ability to carefully regulate the depth of penetration and the amount of heat delivered by the beam. The high-speed scanner driven by a patent pending algorithm divides the treatment area into four quadrants or “fractions” and skips the beam from quadrant to quadrant so that each strike is separated by the longest possible interval.

    The process is repeated until the entire area is treated. Dividing the laser energy this way allows maximum time for thermal cooling of the tissue, less pain for the patient, and faster recovery.

  • PAIN: Other than a mild burning sensation for the first few hours, most patients experience no other pain. For mild pain you can take acetaminophen (Tylenol or equivalent) for discomfort

    ITCHING: Some patients experience a high level of itching for 2-6 days post treatment. This is due to the release of histamines during the healing process.  A 1% hydrocortisone can be applied once or twice a day for 2 days and/or take an oral antihistamine, e.g. Benadryl (causes drowsiness).

Treatment Plan

What to expect from Mixto Co2.

    • Avoid sun exposure two weeks prior to treatment. We will not be able to treat tanned skin.

    • If pre-treating your skin with Hydroquinone and Retinol, as designated by your provider, you must stop using both products 5-7 days before your scheduled appointment.

    • Stop all harsh topical exfoliants and scrubs (products containing AHA’s, BHA’s or glycolic acids) 1 week prior to treatment. 

    • No alcoholic beverages, no blood thinners (aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, fish oil omega fatty acids, multivitamin, Vitamin E) or smoking 3 days prior to treatment.

    • Wear loose fitting clothes that button or zip up the front (avoid clothing that needs to be pulled over the treated area). 

    • Long hair should be pulled off of the face and in a ponytail or bun. 

    • No earrings or jewelry. 

    • 1 hour prior to your appointment you may take up to 2 grams of extra strength Tylenol or 1 prescription strength pain killer. If you are taking any prescription pain medications, you MUST have a ride to and from your appointment. Avoid the use of aspirins and blood thinners (fish oil/omega-3-fatty acids) 4 days to your treatment day. 

    • If numbing with topicals at home this must be done 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment time. Apply a generous layer all over the face or area being treated. 

    • If numbing in our office, you must arrive 1 hour prior to your appointment time.

    • We will be drawing your blood on the day of your treatment so please be hydrated with 8-10 ounces of water 1 hour before your appointment time. If you do not hydrate, your risk of fainting increases. 

    • Elevate head at a 45 ° angle when sleeping the first night.  This will help reduce swelling. Place a towel over the pillow to avoid any staining of your pillowcase.

    • No alcoholic beverages for at least the first 48 hours post treatment.

    • No strenuous exercise for the first 48 hours. Do not participate in any exercise such as bending, squatting, straining, heavy lifting and avoid excessive perspiration. No contact sports. The less energy you use, the more energy your body will have to heal.

    • No hot tubs or swimming pools until redness is completely gone (after day 5).

    • You can shower or bathe at any point in time post procedure but avoid hot showers and baths for the first 24 hours. Preferably take short warm showers.  Please avoid running hot water directly on the treated area as this could lead to the exudate being prematurely peeled off leading to scarring.    

    • After bathing, gently pat dry the treated are with a soft cloth. Never wipe hard with a towel. Wash your hair everyday with baby shampoo or non-irritating shampoo until completely healed. 

    • Cleanse/soak/moisturize. This will help keep the skin moist and will aid in removing any exudate build-up (crusting) and will also allow the topical moisturizers (applied immediately after soaking) to better penetrate the surface of the skin.

Treatment Plan

What to expect from RF Microneedling.

    • We recommend our patients arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their appointment to apply a topical numbing cream to make the treatment comfortable.

    • Most patients describe a feeling of light pressure with an occasional warming sensation. Other patients report a feeling of minor prickling. 

    • The pre-treatment numbing takes approximately 30 minutes. The treatment itself takes about 45 minutes on the face. This means that the total treatment time will be between an hour and an hour and a half. 

    • Many testimonials from patients say they found the treatment to be in a range of comfortable to virtually pain-free. The Vivace Microneedle RF was designed with patient comfort in mind.

  • To maximize Vivace microneedling results, patients can use our Soothe Mask and Boost Serum during the first four to six hours. 

    Patients should avoid:

    • Applying makeup for at least six hours, and we suggest they wait until the next day. 

    • Direct sunlight on treated skin for a week following treatment. 

    • Strenuous exercise for 24 hours post treatment. 

    The collagen and elastin you make is your own and will continue accelerated production over the next six months.

    Most patients will find that their results last for a few years, though this will vary depending on the number of treatments and number of touch-up treatments that a patient chooses. Patients who get routine touch-up treatments report long-term results.
